Amelia Earhart was the most famous female pilot in history and proved that women could be just as brave and skilled as any explorer! In the 1920s and 1930s, when most people thought flying was too dangerous for women, Amelia soared through the skies breaking record after record.
In 1932, Amelia became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean - a dangerous 15-hour flight through storms and fog. She was only the second person ever to make this incredible journey alone! Amelia also set speed records and altitude records that amazed the world.

Amelia inspired countless girls and women to pursue their dreams of flying and adventure. She wrote books, gave speeches, and always encouraged others by saying, "Adventure is worthwhile in itself!" Sadly, her plane disappeared in 1937 during an attempt to fly around the world.
