¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to the land of ancient pyramids, delicious tacos, and some of the most colorful celebrations in the world! Mexico is like a vibrant painting come to life, where ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations left incredible pyramids and temples, Spanish colonists built beautiful cities with colorful buildings, and modern Mexico has created a unique culture that's famous worldwide for its art, music, and amazing food. This incredible country connects North America to Central America and is surrounded by both the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

Mexico gained its independence from Spain on September 16, 1821, after a long fight for freedom led by brave heroes like Miguel Hidalgo and José María Morelos. The name "Mexico" comes from the Mexica people, better known as the Aztecs, who built their magnificent capital city Tenochtitlan where Mexico City stands today. The Aztecs called their homeland "Mexihco," which meant "place of the Mexica people."

Amazing Wildlife

Mexico is home to some of the world's most spectacular animals! The country is famous for the incredible monarch butterfly migration, where millions of butterflies travel thousands of miles to spend winter in Mexican forests. You can also find jaguars in the jungles, colorful quetzal birds, gray whales that visit the Pacific coast, and unique animals like axolotls that can regrow their limbs!

Natural Resources

Mexico is rich in natural resources, especially oil found along the Gulf coast and in offshore waters. The country also has important silver mines - Mexico produces more silver than any other country in the world! Agriculture is very important too, with Mexico growing avocados, tomatoes, peppers, and cacao beans used to make chocolate.
