Rainforests are like nature's apartment buildings! These incredible forests are home to more animals and plants than anywhere else on Earth. They're called rainforests because it rains almost every day, keeping everything green and growing year-round.
The Amazing Rainforest Layers
Rainforests have four special layers, each with different animals living there! The forest floor is dark and full of insects, frogs, and decomposers that clean up fallen leaves. The understory is where jaguars, snakes, and many birds hide among the bushes.

The canopy is like a green roof made of treetops where monkeys swing, parrots fly, and sloths hang upside down. The emergent layer has the tallest trees that poke through the canopy, where eagles and butterflies soar above everything else!
Incredible Rainforest Animals
Rainforests are bursting with amazing creatures! Jaguars prowl the forest floor hunting for food. Howler monkeys make the loudest sounds in the forest to talk to their families. Poison dart frogs wear bright colors to warn predators they're dangerous.
Toucans use their giant beaks to reach fruit high in trees. Sloths move so slowly that algae grows on their fur, helping them hide! Army ants march together in huge groups, cleaning up the forest floor.
Rainforests are nature's treasure chests, filled with mysteries we're still discovering. These green giants help keep our planet healthy and are home to millions of amazing creatures!
